If you buy an SLR camera

My Step-brother recommended this book to me when I bought my camera and it is a must-have. It explains the function of SLRs in terms that even I understand. The pictures are amazing, and it's actually a pretty interesting read. Without this book, I'd never take my camera off automatic mode. You can buy it here.

I don't own this book, but I have checked it out of the library and am familiar with it. I bought my Nikon D50 about 16 months ago, when I was in Utah for General Conference; and for about the first month and a half I never took it off Auto setting. Now I use fully manual mode nearly all the time, although occasionally I will put it on aperture or shutter priority.

I don't know what lenses you have, but I would highly recommend a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8, a prime lens that is inexpensive but worth its weight in gold. Get in touch with me via e-mail and we can discuss it some more. (My address is florentine53@yahoo.com).
