Kindergarten

Gabby started kindergarten today so I thought I'd do a little ode to motherhood going too fast.

I was relieved that I got a good night's sleep last night, because Sunday night I hardly slept at all in anticipation of today--not because I knew I would miss Gabby for the 3 hours she'll be gone every day now, but because suddenly all I could think of was "we need to get Gabby one of those GPS tracking phones," so I know where she is every minute she's away (we're now looking into one).

My little girl is growing up. Gabby woke up this morning and told me exactly how she wanted her hair done. After getting plastering it to her head, Gabby practiced the piano and we made our way to piano lessons (which Gabby started last week and absolutely loved).
After piano, we met Noah at Wendy's (Gabby's choice) for her pre-kindergarten lunch.
This is Gabby in her classroom. She was so at ease--I didn't want to leave but she kept acting like she didn't need me there. Gabby found her desk, sat down and looked on (rather annoyed) as I shot picture after picture. I didn't lose it until we were out of the classroom (I was grateful for my sunglasses), but once we were gone, the tears started to fall--everyone tells me that once your kids are in school the years go by even faster, but they're already going too fast!

Now I'm home, Alex is asleep and my house has never been so quiet (I don't like it quite as much as I thought I would).

I can't believe that Gabby started school. It makes me have a tear in my eye too! Good luck Kaila coping with having Gabby gone for 3 hours during the day. I'm sure that over time you will start to enjoy your "me" time. Good luck Gabby in school, I know you'll be the "cool kid"

Love you guys!

Yep, I knew you'd cry. I didn't warn you about that because I didn't want to make it worse. There's a lovely ABBA song about the first day of school. I can't remember the title.

This is such a precious time.

Wow, Miss Gabby's done growed up!! It seems like only yesterday she was requesting "Mermaid Poppins" (I always thought that would be a great kid's movie, but the way). Hooray for Kindergarten, what a cutie!! I love the hairdo.

And a bit off topic (but I have to get my snark in) is that kid in the background of the top picture using a pacifier, at kindergarten?!? The horror.

Yay for Gabby. She is going to do so well. It's such a big moment for the both of you.

Rachel is insanely jealous that Gabby gets to go to Kindergarten. Rachel is already talking it up getting ready for next year. We miss you all like crazy! I don't have your cell number, will you call me, my cell is still the same. We're coming out in October for a temple sealing. We'll for sure see you all then. We love you!

It's sad, but I had forgotten about "mermaid poppins," oh and I think mr. pacifier is just a sibling of a kindergartener.

Carol (directed to Rachel): nah nah nah nah nah nah! ;)
