I'm Over Fast Food

I just finished reading Fast Food Nation (Noah recommended it to me) and I don't think I'll ever look at food the same again (particularly fast food). If you haven't read it and you're a frequenter of McDonald's, Wendy's, etc. or if you have any children who participate in the school lunch program, or if you purchase your meet at grocery stores, I suggest reading it. It it really going to change how my family eats. For one, I will do everything in my power to avoid eating at fast food restaurants (with a few exceptions--gosh I wish I lived next to an In-N-Out), Gabby will be sporting a sack lunch to school starting next year, and I will only purchase free-range beef (available at health food stores or directly from ranchers--for those of you in Utah, I found a great website that tells you where your nearest free-range meet packing ranch is located here). I'm still trying to find a good place to buy chicken . . .

Has anyone else read this book and been outraged???

I'll have to read it, it does look interesting! Thank goodness we get all of our beef from the family ranch!!

HHHMM, My girls ate McDonald's yesterday. I guess I like living in the dark. Although I do always feel guilty when I give them their chicken Mc-nuggets happy meal with French fries and chocolate milk. And I guess it was probably a little over board when a bunch of our friends all got McDonald's to watch Super Size Me. I was pretty disgusted afterwards.

Hey what are you having? I haven't heard yet.

I have seen Super Size Me--this book is a pretty good companion. Gretch: we're not going to have the nurse tell us what the sex of our baby is. . .you'll have to wait until August to find out.

Forget Fast Food Nation-you're not finding out what you're having?! You are one very patient lady. On the other hand, you do have a kid of both genders and they were all born somewhat around the same time of the year (if I'm remembering correctly), so I guess it kinda makes sense. I'd probably kill myself waiting though.

About the book, I'll definitely have to read it now. We don't really eat at fast food places much anyway, though, just b/c of the whole allergy situation. I don't know what I'd do if I had to cut out my Subway. It's the only thing keeping me from throwing up while out and about. Sorry...rambling over.

I have no desire to read that book. It's too extreme--too much of an agenda. I'll try to be wise in my own regard and have greater balance, but not go to any extremes because of a book. Sorry! You enjoy though.
