I wish I had pictures of the "before," but Noah recently dumped our computer and I don't know where the back-up disk is but here's a summary of what we had prior to taking these pictures: where the island is, a wall once was (no cabinets on it, just a totally non-functional wall that made the kitchen and living room look small), the cabinets were a 1980's oak that were falling apart and the walls were papered in a country/ fruit & flower theme (not my favorite--that was the first thing to go). By the way, what do you think about the green walls? Noah still needs to get used to them.
The cabinets are in knotty alder, which I love but didn't think we could afford. Home Depot originally quoted us at $6000 for oak and maple. We ended up going through a Utah-based company for $2000 less with the Alder. Thanks Jeff!
We still need to get the stainless hood vent for above our stove (see picture below). Noah's thinking he can make it and save us a few hundred dollars, I however am a bit skeptical.

WOW!!! I think it looks absolutely fabulous! I am so impressed! I think you guys need a vacation after all that work! Looks great!
It looks AWESOME!! Good job guys! And I thought you guys bought that house because you didn't want to do any house projects... :-) It really looks a 1000x better! I saw it when it had the fruit/flower design, Kaila it was so you. JK! Can't wait to see it in person!
Oh, and I like the green.
I can't believe that Noah is not used to the green...I LOVE IT! That is the first thing that I saw and thought, that it really brings your kitchen together. I am a big fan of your new kitchen. I wish that we would've seen it before. Scott has seen it almost done, but I need to make my way over there!
I dig the green, the cabinets are so pretty too!
I think you need more pink. Pepto Bismal pink. Maybe paint the crown molding pink? Just a suggestion.
You won the Design Mom Giveaway!! The universe is finally paying you back for those bad couple of days you had in a row - you know, narrowly missing hurricanes, mall shootings, and suicide bombings. And congrats on the kitchen - it looks mighty fine. Y'all are busy beavers with good taste - a good combo.
Wow, thanks Adrea--I almost missed out on my giveaway winning, I haven't even bothered checking to see if I won lately! So next time you guys come into town, Mr. Henry is welcome to play with our 3-tiered felt cake!
i love your green kitchen! my very most favoritest color. :)
